(Vatican Radio) For a Christian, true progress lies in humbling ourselves as Jesus did. This was the focus of Pope Francis’ homily at morning Mass in the Casa Santa Marta. The Pope also reiterated that true power is in service and that there is no room for power struggles within the Church. During the prayers of the faithful Pope Francis also prayed for the victims of the Oklahoma tornado tragedy.

(Vatican Radio) At Mass for the Seventh Sunday of Easter, Pope Francis canonized 800 Martyrs from the Italian city of Otranto, along with two Latin American religious Foundresses, Mother Laura Montoya e Upegui – the first Colombian saint – and Mother Maria Guadalupe Garcia Zavala, from Mexico.

(Vatican Radio) The head of the Coptic Orthodox Church Pope Tawadros II will meet Pope Francis on Friday. The Pope of Alexandria is in Rome from 9 to 13 May. Tawadros II, Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, on his first day visited St. Peter’s Basilica and Necropolis.
